The historic town of Dartmouth, etched into the wooded hillsides of the beautiful River Dart, is only a few minutes drive away. The town is particularly attractive with its overhanging buildings, yacht harbour and wide quayside vistas.The lovely lower reaches of the river are navigable by ferry who go as far as Totnes and Brixham.
The old village of Blackawton is just a short walk from Woodside View and also has the special distinction of hosting the annual International Worm Charming Contest.Dartmouth Golf and Country Club is 5 minutes away by car, and has a 9 and 18 hole golf course, indoor swimming pool and restaurant.
The coast is about 10 minutes away and the nearest beach is at the beautiful sheltered bay of Blackpool Sands. The coastal walks are superb and there is a special nature reserve at Slapton Ley. Nearby is the fashionable Salcombe with its world renowned yachting community and regatta and wonderful beaches and delightful coves.
The rugged splendour of Dartmoor is just over 1/2 an hour’s drive away starting from the gateway town of Ashburton. A day excursion into Cornwall including the Eden Project is one of numerous day trips.
